The Drama Factory to Host Cabaret Vincent – His Quest to Love and be Loved
The Drama Factory is set to host the cabaret Vincent – His Quest to Love and be Loved, from Friday 17th to Sunday 19th February. This multimedia cabaret is directed and written by Amanda Bothma and presented by Wela Kapela Productions. The show features vocalist Daniel Anderson and pianist Germaine Gamiet, who previously worked together on the hit show Mad About The Boys.
Vincent – His Quest to Love and be Loved tells the story of the complex man, Vincent van Gogh. The cabaret focuses on his search for love and includes reimagined versions of popular musical theatre, pop, rock, and jazz numbers. This beautifully crafted show is a tribute to Van Gogh, whose ruthless drive to create and deep-seated desire to love and be loved is well known.
Toward the end of his short life, Van Gogh suffered from mental illness and was treated by Dr. Paul Gachet. His last words to his brother Theo were, “A great fire burns within me, but no one stops to warm themselves at it, and passersby only see a wisp of smoke.” Despite his short life, Van Gogh’s works of art have gained worldwide recognition, with his Portrait of Doctor Gachet selling for $75 million in 1990.
Don’t miss out on the chance to see this amazing cabaret. Tickets can be booked at www.thedramafactory.co.za or by calling 073 215 2290. The show will be on at 19:30 on Friday and Saturday, with a matinée at 16:00 on Sunday.
