An immersive biography of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo is coming to Vancouver this spring, but it has now been canceled.
The exhibit, which was set to run on Wednesday, May 3 in Vancouver, was canceled.
Kahlo is one of the most iconic artists of the 20th century, and her work continues to be hugely popular. Her paintings often dealt with themes of identity, gender, class, and race, and her distinctive style has been hugely influential.
The exhibit was set to feature more than 40 of Kahlo’s paintings, as well as several personal belongings and photographs. It would have been the first major retrospective of Kahlo’s work in Canada.
We are very sorry to hear that the Frida Kahlo exhibit has been canceled in Vancouver. We were looking forward to seeing her work in person.
