LEGO Art: Recreating Van Gogh’s Masterpiece in 3D

The LEGO Group’s new set, 21333 The Starry Night, offers a three-dimensional representation of Vincent van Gogh’s famous artwork. This set departs from the traditional mosaic style of most LEGO Art sets and includes a frame, allowing builders to display their creation on their walls like a painting. The set aims to accurately capture the colors, proportions, and shapes of van Gogh’s original work while also adding a 3D element. Based on a LEGO Ideas submission by Truman Cheng, The Starry Night set will be available for purchase on June 1, 2022 and includes 2,316 pieces and one minifigure.

Recreating Vincent van Gogh’s The Starry Night presented a challenge for the LEGO designers tasked with bringing Truman Cheng’s concept to life. In addition to accurately representing the colors used in the original painting, the team also had to ensure that the finished product was recognizable as The Starry Night and brought the painting to life with its 3D elements. The set includes a wide range of blue and yellow bricks to accurately capture the colors used in the painting, and builders will need to pay close attention to detail to ensure that their creation accurately represents the original work.

The finished product of 21333 The Starry Night is a stunning representation of Vincent van Gogh’s iconic painting. The set’s frame and 3D elements add a unique twist to the traditional mosaic style of LEGO Art sets, making it a standout addition to any collection. Whether displayed on a wall or admired as a standalone model, this set is sure to impress both fans of van Gogh and LEGO enthusiasts alike.
