The "Everglow" event is being held on January 14th in Rock Island, Illinois, to raise funds and awareness for mental health counseling and suicide prevention in the Quad Cities area. The event, which runs from 7pm to 11pm at the downtown Rock Island Holiday Inn, includes a T-shirt, LED wristband, entry fee, snacks, music, and dancing. Participants are asked to raise 40 dollars on the givebutter site or pay the 40 dollars themselves in online registration, with the top five fundraisers receiving a special reward at the end of the night. All proceeds will go to Foster’s Voice and The Gray Matters Collective, two organizations working on suicide prevention. The "Everglow" event follows the success of the first sold-out "Starry Night Gala" on November 19th, 2022, which raised over $40,000 for mental health counseling in the Quad Cities area and was attended by 400 people. The "Starry Night Gala" was inspired by the life and death of Vincent van Gogh, who struggled with depression and psychotic episodes before ultimately taking his own life at the age of 37. The "Starry Night" painting is one of van Gogh’s most famous works.
